Bon Appétit, Your Majesty: A Time-Travel, Foodie Romance!

The story of the drama "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty" begins with Yoon Ji-young, a Korean chef specializing in exquisite French cuisine.

Yoon wins a prestigious award as the world's best chef in France. On her way back to Korea, she carries with her a historical book about a Joseon King from 500 years ago. This book acts as the catalyst for her bizarre journey: Ji-young is suddenly and unexpectedly transported through time, landing in the Joseon Dynasty five centuries in the past.

She finds herself in a completely alien world where survival becomes her greatest challenge, especially since no one in that era believes her strange story about coming from the future.

The Tyrant King and His Culinary Passion

In Joseon, her path crosses with King Lee Heon, a ruler infamous for his cruelty and tyranny. While everyone fears him, the King hides a secret: a deep passion for fine dining and an extremely difficult palate to please.

Caught up in complex and unexpected diplomatic missions, the chef is forced to use her modern cooking skills to satisfy the demanding tastes of the King and his guests.

As time passes, the King falls in love with her due to her talent and personality, which, unfortunately, makes her the target of jealous rivals and rebels against the King, both inside and outside the palace.

This drama is not just a royal romance; it's a culinary exhibition of the most delicious and extravagant dishes!

The Star Who Cooked for Real

It's worth mentioning that actress Yoona, who played the chef, diligently trained for three months before filming began to master the preparation of the dishes shown in the drama. This dedication made the cooking scenes incredibly realistic and mouth-watering.

For this reason, I strongly advise against watching this drama on an empty stomach, as everyone who sees it ends up wanting to try these magnificent dishes!

My Thoughts on the Ending: A Question of Logic

What are your thoughts on the ending of "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty"?

I initially thought the drama would end tragically, similar to "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," as I couldn't foresee a logical resolution to the events.

However, given the fictional nature of the story, I suspect the director had a different vision. They likely aimed to satisfy the audience and everyone who had grown to love the drama by providing a happy ending that wouldn't break viewers' hearts.

What did you think of the ending? Did the happy conclusion work for you, or were you hoping for a more realistic, perhaps tragic, farewell? Let us know in the comments!
